The state of Deportivo’s accounts is emerging this week, with it reported that over a 10th of the club’s debt is to current and past players.
Depor have entered into administration and President Augusto Cesar Lendoiro must now provide full details about the Galicians’ debts to administrators.
La Voz de Galicia report that the total debt owed does indeed reach up to the expected €93m – and not the €34m that Lendoiro last filed.
There is a notable list of over 50 footballers owed a combined total of €9,769,237. This list includes current members of the first and youth team squads at Riazor, as well as a number of past players.
Albert Luque commands the highest amount owed. Despite leaving the club in 2005, he is still yet to receive over €2m in unpaid wages.
Ze Castro, who has just signed a new contract with the club, is owed the most out of the current selection of players still at the club, with €500,000 in arrears relating to signing on and image rights.
Depor owe more than €40m in unpaid taxes and VAT, whilst banks Banco Gallego and Nova Galicia Banco are owed a combined €34m.
A number of creditors are fellow football clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Hercules and Almeria, whilst several members of the medical and technical team at Deportivo are also owed money. Finally, over €2m is owed to travel agents Viajes El Corte Ingles, for various journeys.
