Arda Turan ‘happy’ at Atleti

Arda Turan has suggested that he was misquoted over Christmas and that his intention is to win more with Atletico Madrid.

Following on from his agent’s claims that he will be leaving Atleti next summer, the Turkish international was quoted during the winter break as intent on playing for ‘one of the five or six biggest clubs in Europe’.

However, in today’s Press conference, the influential attacking midfielder has look to retrace his steps.

“I did not say anything like that. I do not have that intention and it was exaggerated. I have never said that Atletico are not a great club,” declared the 25-year-old to reporters today.

“This is my house. The team and the fans are my family. Players must demonstrate their commitment on the field. I’m very happy and if you still have doubts then here I am.

“I am 25, but I would like to achieve more success with the club. I only spoke of my dreams when I was little. I live with my sentiments.

“I did not know that there would be so much controversy, nor that people would get upset. The only thing that bothers me is that it was said I said Atleti are not great.

“I love this club and the fans. Madrid and Barca have theirs when they win, but ours never abandon us. I feel very good here. Even without the good days, I will fight forever.

“Can we win the League? Why not? We are dreaming of the League. This team is very good. The club deserves to fight for it, but we have to go game by game.”
