Reina between Barca, United

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is reportedly one option between the sticks being considered by both Barcelona and Manchester United.

The Spanish international has been linked with a move away from Anfield during a majority of this season, which he has struggled during for consistent form.

Mundo Deportivo believe that this summer he will face a choice of two clubs – Barcelona or Manchester United, with any potential move also likely to have a say on David de Gea’s future.

It is believed that Barca are considering bringing the 30-year-old back to Camp Nou in the summer, as they search for a replacement for Victor Valdes, who is likely to be on his way out after confirming his intention to not renew his contract beyond June 2014.

Reina’s experience through Barcelona’s youth ranks and in the first team over a decade ago is thought to make him a viable candidate to fit in from the summer.

However, it is also understood that United are looking at the shot-stopper and, according to sources close to the player, have already approached him about a possible switch from rivals Liverpool.

Should he opt for that move, which he is described as open to but for the rivalry between the two English sides, then it is seen that Barca could turn to De Gea.

Mundo Deportivo also report that De Gea has been made available for transfer by Sir Alex Ferguson, who is said to consider him too lightweight for the Premier League.

The former Atletico Madrid man is seen as another option for Barcelona and one that, if United sign Reina, would be relatively more attainable too.
