Falcao set for lay-off

Radamel Falcao is facing a minor injury break at Atletico Madrid, although his thigh strain suffered during the weekend is not as bad as first feared.

The Colombian pulled up near the hour mark of Atleti’s 2-0 win on Sunday evening over Levante, chasing down a ball.

Coach Diego Simeone afterwards suggested that the player was facing up to three weeks on the sidelines with a suspected tear in his thigh. However, tests today have confirmed that he has suffered only a strain of between grade I and II severity.

That means that a tear of the muscle has been ruled out, but that the 26-year-old could still face a lay-off, the length of which will depend on the evolution of the injury.
