Mauricio Pochettino is back in football after a short break, as he has been appointed the new manager of Premier League side Southampton.
The south coast outfit had been linked with the Argentine tactician this week and confirmed on Friday morning his appointment in place of the sacked Nigel Adkins.
Adkins had taken the Saints to the Premier League last season off the back of consecutive promotions, and had recently overseen an up-turn in form, with the side three points above the relegation zone.
However, this move now represents a quick return to the game for Pochettino, who was sacked by Espanyol at the end of November after the Catalans’ poor start to the Spanish League season.
Southampton will be only Pochettino’s second job as Coach and his first experience of English football.
