Valdes won’t renew at Barca

Goalkeeper Victor Valdes’ agents have reportedly informed Barcelona that the player does not intend to extend his contract at the club.

The 31-year-old, who came through the ranks at the Camp Nou and has so far won 19 major titles with the club, has another 18 months to go on his current deal.

Valdes stated in his last Press appearance that he is not ruling out leaving the club, whilst his agent and Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta disagreed in public over the state of progress to talks so far.

News agency EFE are now reporting that the situation has manifested itself so that the player has informed the club, via his representatives, of his intention to not sign a new deal.

This is believed to have been declared during a preliminary meeting between the parties on Thursday, is described as an ‘irrevocable decision’ by the player and comes with a refusal to even assess the club’s offers put on the table.
