Diego Simeone acknowledges that like Atletico Madrid, Thursday’s Copa del Rey opponents Real Betis are in good form.
Betis travel out to the Vicente Calderon this midweek for the first leg of their Cup quarter-final against Atleti off the back of League form that has them just two places below the capital club in the League table.
“We are on the same line. The opponent is in good shape, they are clear in how they play and they are in form and have fast players,” reflected the Argentine in his pre-match conference.
“They have demonstrated with consistency a vertical style of play that I admire.
“The team are organised very well tactically and they will come here to play well.
“The statistics set the trend. They have recovered well since the derby with Sevilla.
“It will be a difficult game. Furthermore, the quarter-finals of the Cup already have a special flavour.
“We must win. Keeping a clean sheet is important and ideal, but we must get a good result.”
