Rayo pick up Machado

Rayo Vallecano are reported to have secured their second signing of the January transfer window, picking up striker Gabriel Machado on a free.

The 23-year-old Brazilian cancelled his contract with Steaua Bucharest last week and is widely understood to have agreed to sign for the Madrid minnows.

Machado made his name in Romanian football with Universitatea Cluj, but struggled to make an impact at Steaua since a January 2012 move, making just three appearances for the country’s biggest team.

The striker, who has reportedly put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year contract at Rayo, is the club’s second January arrival, after defender Jordi Figueras, who, on loan from Brugge for six months, debuted at the weekend.
