Malaga eye Victor Vazquez

Malaga are reportedly making steps to sign their first reinforcement for next season, in the form of Brugge playmaker Victor Vazquez.

The club’s sporting director Mario Husillos reportedly watched Vazquez in action for the Belgian side in their midseason friendly with Feyenoord at the weekend, before talking with the player’s Coach afterwards, Juan Carlos Garrido.

The Costa del Sol side are believed to be trying to set up a deal to bring the 25-year-old Spaniard back to his native country this summer, with one eye on a cheap deal in light of his contract expiring in June 2014.

Attacking midfielder Vazquez spent 14 years running through Barcelona’s academy levels, before making one first team appearance and then leaving for Brugge in 2011.

Meanwhile, Malaga are also said to be monitoring Diego Lugano’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain. The Uruguayan is thought available in the summer, with relations between PSG and the Spanish described as good.

However, whilst Malaga are in the market in anticipation of potentially losing Martin Demichelis when his contract expires at the end of the season, Lugano’s current wage of €3m is seen as a barrier to any potential move.
