Michel won’t be sacked, yet

Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido will reportedly stick with Coach Michel Gonzalez for the time being, despite League disappointment.

Defeat at Valencia this weekend has again increased the pressure on the tactician, as it ensured the club’s worst first half to a League campaign since the 2002-03 season.

That term was Del Nido’s first as President and saw the team, then under Joaquin Caparros, also go through the first 19 games to pick up just 22 points.

Repeating that this season is believed to have increased the pressure on Michel’s position at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

However, AS believe that whilst Del Nido is meeting with board members today, it is not to discuss his Coach’s future, just yet.

Del Nido is understood to value the team’s continued presence in the Copa del Rey. Sevilla face Real Zaragoza in the quarter-finals, starting this week.
