Mendilibar hopes for consistency

Jose Luis Mendilibar is eager for Osasuna to take the positives from their Copa del Rey exit and apply them to the League.

The Basques are struggling in La Liga and at the weekend slipped back to 20th position.

Despite following that up with a Last 16 exit from the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night, their Coach felt that the work done against Valencia provided positives.

“We played well and had done as we had planned to. In addition, we scored the one goal and had several chances to score more,” reflected Mendilibar at the end.

“It has been a good match, with more presence in attack than we had had in previous games. I was sure we were going to compete and we did.

“I have nothing to complain about, but we need to be more consistent, we still need to win because although we are improving, we lost again.

“The start of the second half was key. We could have scored a second goal and that would have committed Valencia. The important thing is that we learn from this that we can do good things in attack.”
