Vilanova to miss Cordoba, Malaga

Barcelona Coach Tito Vilanova will reportedly miss his team’s next two games against Cordoba and Malaga as he flies out to New York.

The 44-year-old confirmed after making a speedy return to the bench at the weekend that continued treatment on his relapsed illness will mean he will not always be available through the coming weeks.

Reports in Spain indicate that Vilanova, who underwent surgery on one of his salivary glands at the end of December and is now on a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, has flown out to New York to consult medical experts for a second opinion on his condition.

Subsequently, it is seen that the tactician will not be present for Thursday’s Copa del Rey second leg clash with Cordoba, nor the League encounter the following weekend at Malaga.

La Blaugrana currently lead their Segunda Division opponents 2-0 from the first leg of this Last 16 meeting.
