Atleti track Toulalan

Atletico Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on Malaga midfielder Jeremy Toulalan with a view to a move this summer.

The club are reportedly in the midst of identifying transfer targets to strengthen Diego Simeone’s squad, should they, as current form indicates, qualify for the Champions League.

Whilst they are believed to have turned down the third and final option to re-sign Ignacio Camacho from Malaga next summer, Atleti are understood to have identified central midfield as a position to reinforce and the Anchovies as likely providers.

Specifically, they are targeting Camacho’s teammate Toulalan. Whilst the Frenchman still has a contract to run until June 2015, the capital outfit believe they can obtain the 29-year-old at a cheaper rate.

AS report that Atleti first came in with an offer for Toulalan last summer, in response to Malaga’s newfound economic difficulty offering just €6m for the former Lyon man.

Whilst that was rejected and the indication given that the Costa del Sol outfit would only accept offers that triggered his buyout clause at €30m, Atleti reportedly believe that Malaga’s impending ban from European football for next season may force their hand to again sell at a lower price.
