Michel: If we still have 19 pts..

Sevilla boss Michel has confessed that tomorrow’s game at home to Osasuna is a huge one for him personally.

The Andalusians form spiralled downwards alarmingly before Christmas and another negative result tomorrow could have dire consequences for their season and for the Coach’s hopes of keeping his job.

“It is a game that has to be earned in the manner we know,” he told reporters a short while ago. “It is illogical for us to have 19 points, regardless of the Coach, with a squad this good. Tomorrow I want to see the team play the first half they played against Malaga.

“If tomorrow we still have 19 points, then I have to take responsibility. Osasuna are a team that does not give up trying to play football, with an interesting offensive line.”

The former Real Madrid player then explained why Brazilian defender Cicinho has been confined to the sidelines.

“He has not been forgotten, but we have to manage the states of form. He was not giving what was expected, and we want the team to be as competitive as possible. There is no issue, he made a mistake and paid for it.”

Michel also discussed the arrival of Miroslav Stevanovic and the rumours regarding striker Alvaro Negredo.

“Stevanovic will come in handy, but he has just arrived. He can take the place of Jesus Navas if needs be, but it won’t come to that.

“We’re better off with Negredo. If he stays it will be because he thinks we can reach higher dimensions, not to save the season. If there’s a great deal, I understand the club’s position. I’m not irresponsible.”
