Granada set for Recio loan

Granada are on the verge of agreeing to take 21-year-old midfielder Recio on loan from Malaga until the end of the season.

The youngster has been confirmed by Granada’s sporting director as most likely to be the first of ‘three or four’ arrivals the struggling La Liga side intend to bring in during January.

“We are very interested in his services, the player is up for the work needed in coming to Granada and Malaga are interested in the deal too,” Juan Carlos Cordero told reporters this week.

“We are expecting an answer in the coming week, as [Coach Manuel] Pellegrini has been on vacation, but the idea is that everything is satisfactory.

“He is a young player and is different to what we have in midfield at the moment. This deal can be profitable for everyone.”

Cordero also reflected of the team’s desire to improve their frontline this month.

“We are intensely searching for a striker who is familiar to the Spanish Primera Division or at least to Spanish football.

“We hope to bring someone in as soon as possible, but this month is difficult and everything moves very slowly.”

The sporting director also confirmed that midfielder Moises Hurtado has received an offer to terminate his contract with the club, before commenting on Chilean striker Fabian Orellana’s situation.

“He has asked us to leave, but if there is no significant offer for him then he will stay with us. He is mistaken if he thinks that he can easily leave on loan to one of the clubs that are interested, such as Celta Vigo.”
