Celta close in on Demidov

Norwegian centre-back Vadim Demidov is set for a quick return to La Liga this winter, with Celta Vigo reportedly on the verge of a deal.

The international defender spent 18 months at Real Sociedad recently, before a summer 2012 transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, the 26-year-old has struggled for game-time in the Bundesliga, managing just the five appearances, and is reported this week as just a few steps away from returning to Spanish football.

Demidov, who left La Real after falling out of favour under Coach Philippe Montanier, is reportedly only a medical examination away from completing a move to Celta.

The footballer can play in central midfield as well as defence, but is seen primarily as cover for the absent Samuel Llorca, the centre-back who injured his anterior cruciate ligament in October.

Demidov’s transfer is expected to be in the form of an initial loan agreement between Celta and Eintracht and could be completed in time for him to debut this weekend against Real Valladolid.
