Valencia talk Albiol, Michel

Valencia have already started work on reinforcing the squad for the 2013-14 season with movement made for Raul Albiol and Michel Herrero.

Albiol, who left Mestalla for Real Madrid in 2009, has reportedly been identified as the type of player that Los Che want to build the team around from 2013-14, due to his international experience and the fact that he is Spanish.

The 27-year-old is understood by Superdeporte to have already been the subject of early negotiations between agent Manuel Garcia Quilon and sporting director Braulio Vazquez, with a contract offer close to top-earner Roberto Soldado reportedly tabled.

However, there is still one obstacle seen in a possible transfer, which is Madrid’s anticipated high asking price, having only signed the centre-back to a new contract in August.

Meanwhile, Valencia are also believed to have exercised their right to buy back midfielder Michel from city rivals Levante.

The 24-year-old transferred to Los Granotes last summer after spells on loan with Deportivo and Hercules, but has impressed Los Che bosses enough for them to have reportedly already activated the €420,000 clause in his contract to bring him back to Mestalla next summer.

Valencia were understood to have had up to two years to buy back the midfielder, but that after the first six months, the fee required to activate the clause would have doubled to €840,000.
