Chelsea have reportedly turned their attentions from Barcelona’s David Villa to Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo.

The Londoners were yesterday said to be preparing a €14m bid for Villa, as they look to strengthen their forward line during January.

However Blaugrana midfielder Andres Iniesta stated his opposition to the move this morning , and with his attitude thought to reflect that of the club’s administration, Cadena COPE report that Chelsea are contemplating another Spanish internationalist.

Negredo, aged 27, has netted 52 goals for Sevilla since arriving at the club in 2009. Given the Andalusian outfit’s financial problems they may well be willing to sell but a fee of €18m will be required to satisfy President Jose Maria del Nido.

Negredo would be the fifth Spaniard to join the Blues ranks, alongside Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu, Fernando Torres and interim Coach Rafael Benitez.
