Silvio set for Mallorca switch

Silvio Pereira is all but signed off on a six-month loan deal to join Mallorca from Atletico Madrid from January.

The 25-year-old full-back has been reported in recent days as close to an agreement to switch sides and become the island outfit’s first reinforcement of the winter transfer window.

Silvio, who can play on both wings, has been in talks with Mallorca for the past week and has, according to today’s reports, finally agreed on a six-month loan switch to the Iberostar Stadium, with Atleti and Mallorca having both agreed on the deal too.

The player is expected to be officially confirmed a Mallorca player during the Christmas period, in anticipation of joining up with Mallorca’s squad from January 2.

Mallorca are reported as in the market for a number of players to boost their fortunes, with the team currently struggling at the wrong end of the table, having only ended in Week 17 an 11-game winless run in La Liga.

Silvio has only made one League appearance for Diego Simeone’s team this season, otherwise being restricted to Cup and Europa League action.
