Busquets: Let’s win for Tito

Sergio Busquets has expressed his faith in stand-in Jordi Roura and said Barcelona must beat Real Valladolid for Tito Vilanova.

Blaugrana Coach Vilanova is in hospital after undergoing surgery to remove a tumour yesterday.

Roura, his assistant, will deputise on the bench at the Estadio Nuevo Jose Zorrilla tomorrow night.

“These are three very important points,” the combative midfielder told members of the media this evening.

“On a collective level, but especially for Tito. We have to win, because there is no alternative. It was negative news, we’ve had a lot of it, but in the end we are encouraged and that gives us strength to do well in the game.

“Hopefully we can get the three points and that will help us recover. Tito came with a very positive message and that’s good for the team, it gave us energy.”

The Spanish international then gave his appraisal of Roura.

“He is well trained to do this. He has confidence in us, and us in him. He will be coaching for hopefully as short a time as possible but we know he will do fine. He is a man of the club, familiar with all its concepts.”

Busquets closed by speaking about the tribute paid to him by a Saudi Arabian player, who bore his image on a t-shirt revealed after a goal.

“I saw him. It was surprising because I’ve never experienced anything like that. It’s positive and shows you the best side of football. I’ve not had a chance to speak with him but can be contacted one way or another and am grateful.”
