Feghouli contract talks progress

Sofiane Feghouli’s talks with Valencia over a new deal have advanced in recent days, with a signature expected by the New Year.

The 22-year-old, who has been linked with a number of clubs since the summer, has been in talks with Los Che over a new deal since the close of the summer transfer window.

Whilst those talks had stalled in recent weeks with the parties said to have reached a stalemate over wage demands, which prompted speculation of a possible sale in 2013, Superdeporte believe that negotiations have been reinvigorated in recent days.

Sporting director Braulio Vazquez has reportedly met face to face with the player and his representatives in a bid to reach an agreement and it is believed that a signature could be made before the turn of the year.

Feghouli, who was announced at Algeria’s Player of the Year for 2012 this week, will reportedly see his basic rate of pay boosted by 50 per cent, up from €800,000 to €1.2m, which was the maximum amount Valencia were said to be offering.

However, it also comes with the potential for the player to earn a little extra that he was after, with a number of bonuses related to games played, Champions League qualification and goals and assists.

Feghouli will also be handed a further two years to his contract, pushing its expiry back to June 2016.
