Perarnau to restructure Espanyol

Espanyol's new sporting director Oscar Perarnau has revealed he will try to restructure the club from top to bottom during his tenure.

The 38-year-old, who replaces Ramon Planes in the post, has been at the club for 16 years, working through various positions at the Periquitos.

And he has today claimed he will try to remodel the team at all levels.

“We want to restructure things,” he told a Press conference. “Our gameplay, habits, knowledge and style will all be remodelled.

“We want to improve the performances of our homegrown players and return to the excellence we had in that department.

“We lacked stability, but not anymore. It makes me so sad when I go to other clubs in Spain and Europe and I see how far our levels have dropped.”

He also commented on the first team squad and Coach Javier Aguirre.

“We are doing a thorough analysis together soon,” he said. “Meeting with him are fluid and fast.

“We have two positions that we will strengthen in January, but that will remain confidential.”
