Barca to reward Adriano

Barcelona are reportedly interested in offering a new contract to Brazilian full-back Adriano, as reward for his work so far this season.

The 28-year-old, who signed for the Catalans in July 2010, currently has a deal with the club until June 2014.

La Blaugrana are said to be impressed with the player’s improved fitness this term, in reaction to a number of previous injuries.

Having lost five kilos in weight over the summer, Adriano’s versatility for the side shown so far under Tito Vilanova is also another reason why the club are understood to be keen to extend his contract.

The player has a one-year option in his current deal and it is that, plus an improved wage, that Barca are reportedly eager to action.

The club have a number of ongoing contract negotiations on the table, with talks started or due to start with Lionel Messi, Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez, Victor Valdes, Jose Manuel Pinto, Cristian Tello, Marc Muniesa and Gerard Deulofeu.
