Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa believes Atletico Madrid are one of the best teams in Europe, ahead of their clash this Saturday.
The two teams meet at Santiago Bernabeu this weekend, and the 29-year-old has admitted that since Diego Simeone took over earlier this year, the Rojiblancos have been one of the continent's best.
“You just have to look at the League table to realise [how well they are playing],” he told Real Madrid's official website. “Since the arrival of Simeone I think they have completely changed.
“Today they are probably one of the best team in Europe.
“Every weekend Real Madrid play a difficult game,” he added. “Opponents always give 100 per cent against us. Surely this Saturday will be one of the most difficult?”
He also commented on the club's recent loss to Real Betis, with some suggesting that the League title may be over already.
“I think that if there is any team who can turn around a situation like this, it is Real Madrid,” he said. “It's something we have in our DNA – we always fight to the end and try to achieve impossible things.”
