Xavi surprised by Vilanova

Xavi Hernandez has reflected on the pleasant surprise felt by him and his teammates at Tito Vilanova’s leadership at Barcelona.

The former assistant to Pep Guardiola stepped up to the coaching position last summer and has since taken Barca to their best ever start to a League season.

For Xavi, the new Coach’s ability in the role came as a surprise, as he reflected today.

“I’ve got a very good feeling, Tito is doing an extraordinary job. He’s surprised us all a bit with his character and capacity for leadership,” the 32-year-old told Barca’s official website in part two of an interview held.

“He’s made few changes in terms of tactics and technique and the training sessions are practically the same – it’s virtually all the same people, except for Pep, and we all feel very good.

“we are looking very good, we’ve made a great start to the League and we are on track in the Champions League – the Cup is okay….really, it’s looking fine.

“We’ll see if we win anything or not later on in the season, but right now we are playing good football and enjoying this new stage with Tito we hope we will achieve our final objectives.”

The first half of Xavi’s interview saw him discuss his future at the club, as well as where he feels he still has room for improvement in the game.
