The Spanish Football League have determined Week 17’s dates and have had to move the Copa del Rey fixtures around as a result.
To fill the 10 television slots for that round’s action, the LFP have determined that Week 17’s games will be played across Thursday December 20, Friday December 21 and Saturday December 22.
The Spanish Cup has been affected by this decision, with the Round of 16 second legs on December 18 and 19 now postponed and put back to days around the January 9 date.
Subsequently this moves the quarter-finals back a week, with first legs between January 15 and 17 and second legs between January 22-23. It also means that the semi-finals move, with first legs now on January 29 and 30 and second legs on February 27.
With Barcelona and Real Madrid in the same half of the draw, they are on course to clash in this latter round. Combined with the League meeting on March 3, there could be two Clasico meetings within the space of four days.
