Familiar Barca XI for Spartak

Tito Vilanova brings Javier Mascherano back into defence as he looks to book Barcelona’s passage to the knockout stages of the Champions League today.

The Catalans are away in Moscow against Unai Emery’s Spartak for an early-evening kick-off aware that three points will be enough for last year’s beaten semi-finalists to progress to the Last 16.

Vilanova has subsequently named a familiar starting XI, with Mascherano back in the centre of defence alongside Gerard Pique, with the just-fit-again Carles Puyol dropping to the bench from the weekend.

David Villa is also on the bench, whilst Cristian Tello fails to make the cut for the squad entirely. Andres Iniesta and Pedro Rodriguez flank Lionel Messi in attack.

Starting line-ups

Spartak Moscow: Dykan; K.Kombarov, Suchy, Insaurralde, Makeev; Jurado, Carioca, Kallstrom, D.Kombarov; Ari, Emenike

Barcelona: Valdes, Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Jordi Alba; Cesc, Xavi, Busquets; Pedro, Messi, Iniesta
