Barcelona could field Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique in tandem for the first time in almost three months for Real Zaragoza’s visit this evening.
Pique recently returned to the first team after a lengthy lay-off with a problematic foot injury and could be joined for Week 12’s test by Puyol, who returned to training recently after his latest injury, a dislocated elbow.
Speculation is that the pair could start together in defence for Saturday evening’s match, with Tito Vilanova also reportedly choosing between Javier Mascherano and Alex Song to take the suspended Sergio Busquets’ role in defensive midfield.
If Puyol does start alongside Pique then it would be the first time the duo start a game together since Week 2’s win at Osasuna, at the end of August.
