Barcelona have confirmed that they will be changing the name of the sponsor that appears on their shirts from next season.
As part of the €160m agreement signed with Qatar Foundation in December 2010 that has seen the government organisation adorn Barca’s shirts since the start of 2011-12, a clause existed that allowed the possibility of a new sponsor on the shirt from 2013-14.
That has been activated and will now see Qatar Airways listed across the chest from next season, with Qatar Foundation officially being reclassified at the club as ‘Official Human Development Partner’.
Barca President Sandro Rosell commented that Qatar Airways are: “an ambitious brand with global aspirations, always committed to achieving the utmost excellence in its field. These are objectives with which FC Barcelona fully identifies.”
