Sergio Garcia has reflected that yesterday’s 3-0 home defeat to Osasuna has stunned the Espanyol dressing room.
Los Pericos saw a four-game unbeaten run ended by 20th-placed Osasuna, with the result ensuring that Mauricio Pochettino’s side remained in the relegation zone for at least another week.
“Nobody expected us to lose against Osasuna,” commented Garcia to reporters today.
“It was a pity that the game got away from us as we wanted to win, to get out of the relegation zone after four games without defeat.
“We were in a phase where we were playing well, but the truth is that we did not do the things we had intended.
“If either of the chances when we hit the post had gone in, perhaps it would have been a different result, but that was not to be.
“We must now continue to work to never again suffer a result like this. From here the team will be doing its best to turn the situation around.”
