Osasuna stroll past Espanyol

Goals from Alvaro Cejudo, Kike Sola and Manuel Onwu gave Osasuna a 3-0 away victory over Espanyol.

The bottom two sides met at Estadi Corenlia-El Prat, looking to kickstart their campaigns after an underwhelming start, but it was the home team who looked brightest in the opening exchanges.

Joan Verdu had a shot saved after 10 minutes and Sergio Garcia could have opened the scoring moments later, only for his effort to go over the bar.

Despite all that good work however, it was Jose Luis Mendilibar's men who took the lead against the run of play. Sisi's shot was blocked after a well-worked corner, but Cejudo was there to fire in the rebound.

After the break, the Catalan club remained dominant. They really monopolised possession but failed to make their chances count as Diego Colotto saw his effort fly over from inside the area.

And that poor finishing did come back to haunt the Periquitos on the hour-mark. Sola expertly rounded Cristian Alvarez before tapping into an empty net.

It got even worse for Mauricio Pochettino’s men late on, as Omwu rounded off a fast-flowing counter-attack to give the visiting side only their second win of the season.
