Kaka: I never planned to leave

Real Madrid's Ricky Kaka has claimed he never had any intention to leave the club this summer, in an interview with a Brazilian magazine.

The playmaker was said to be on the verge of rejoining Italian giants Milan more than once this summer, but remained in Madrid, where he has gradually began to win Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho over.

Though not a first team regular, the 30-year-old has featured against Deportivo La Coruna, Ajax and Celta Vigo lately.

“At no time was there a hypothesis for me to leave Real Madrid,” he told Estadao. “Even when certain voices in the market suggested my move, I knew I could grow in Madrid and play more.

“I have three years left on my contract and can give more to this club.”

Kaka has also won his place in the Brazilian national team back recently, scoring in the Selecao's friendly victories over Iraq and Japan earlier this month.

“These caps have been very good for me, to see what the conditions were like. In Madrid I had not been playing, so these games gave me confidence to know that I'm okay. This season is about reaffirmation for myself because before I knew I was not right. Now I'm fine physically.”

The Merengues star is looking forward to a World Cup on home soil in two years time, and confident the current generation of Brazilian talent can deliver.

“Playing the World Cup at home is a big responsibility. We have a good generation. I feel really good to be back, I'm very attached to my colleagues and there is a very positive atmosphere.

“Neymar is experiencing a great moment and is a very talented player. I also enjoy Oscar and Lucas Moura. Then there's Thiago Silva and David Luiz, Marcelo…all very good.”
