‘Neymar to Barca? I don’t know’

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has denied knowledge of the club’s reported pre-contract agreement with Santos for Neymar.

The Brazilian youngster was reported as being the subject of a €10m deposit the club reportedly list in their annual dossier as having paid this summer, ahead of a ‘€40m firm commitment’.

However, the club’s sporting director has said that the player remains at Santos and that he has not seen this dossier.

“Neymar is Santos’ player. I do not know, I do not have a magic ball to see if he will play at Barca,” Zubizarreta told Canal Plus after the game, following up Santos’ own statement on the matter.

“We have a lot of respect for Santos. I have not read the financial report, but I know that Neymar is Santos’ player and that’s all there is.”

The former goalkeeper also reflected on his team’s performance on Saturday night away to Rayo Vallecano.

“Rayo did a great deal in the first 45, but I think that we have other virtues besides possession. And, Cesc assisted for Villa to make it 0-1.

“You have to play in all fields and at all grounds. Rayo wants to play and in their which is small, with the public right behind them. Coming from the Champions League, we see football in its purest form here.”
