Former Real Madrid striker Ivan Zamorano is the latest to try to separate Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and has opted for his fellow South American.
Zamorano, who spent four years in the capital on the books at Real Madrid, was asked his opinion on which was the better player.
Ronaldo netted Los Blancos’ second of the night at home to Celta Vigo on Saturday evening, before Messi followed that up with a hat-trick for Barcelona away to Deportivo.
“They are the two best players in the world,” reflected the former Chile international, after watching Madrid’s game against Celta.
“It is difficult to choose one. At the moment I believe that Messi is a little, a tiny bit, higher than Ronaldo.
“But, Ronaldo also equally continues to make the difference in world football. When you see them, it is maximum enjoyment.”
