Atleti leave it late for win

A last minute own goal from Weligton gave Atletico Madrid a 2-1 win over Malaga on Sunday evening.

The hosts' got off to the best possible start, as an Emre cross found Falcao inside the area, and the Colombia international headed home after six minutes.

Slowly though, Manuel Pellegrini's side had more possession, and ultimately equalised midway through the half. A cross from Nacho Monreal went to Santa Cruz, and the former Blackburn man headed past Thibaut Courtois from 12 yards.

The home team really turned the screw after the break, with first Gabi, and then Falcao, missing the target. The visitors' remained under constant pressure for the remainder of the match, and eventually gave way on 89 minutes.

A free kick from Adrian found Falcao inside the six yard box, but Malaga defender Weligton was there to inadvertently knock the ball into his own net.
