Zidane plays down Mourinho rift

Zinedine Zidane has played down reports of a rift at the Santiago Bernabeu with Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.

Claims in Marca suggested that director of football Zidane was on collision course with the Portuguese with the Portuguese after seeking to distance himself from first ream affairs and having become disillusioned with the job.

However, the Frenchman told the same newspaper that his relationship with Mourinho ‘was the same as ever’ and attempted to end any speculation.

“I’m still working at Madrid, with the youth team, with the youngsters. I’m getting my coaching badges and we’ll see what happens next year,” explained Zidane, who confirmed that ‘I said a while ago I wanted to be a Coach’.

While not making it clear when he will eventually sit on the bench, the 40-year-old maintains he is in no hurry.

“We’ll see what happens, relax. I’ve still got time to train for it yet,” he added.
