Barca will pay Messi agents €449,000

Barcelona have been ordered to pay €449,000 to a company owned by Lionel Messi’s former agent Rodolfo Quinota.

The company had filed a lawsuit against the Catalan giants, which it initially lost, but according to AS this has now been overturned by a court in Barcelona.

The amount dates back to when Messi penned his first contract with Barca in 2005 and takes into account the one he now has with the club, which expires in 2014.

The initial agreement was signed by Track Imagen, a business started by Messi’s father Jorge and Quinota.

In 2006 Track Imagen was renamed Sport Enterprises but his father broke off relations with Quinota after his son renewed his contract with the Barca one year later, resulting in the company filing a lawsuit against the club.

Joan Laporta was President at the time and the current board, headed by Sandro Rosell, will have no choice but to ratify the demand for payment.
