Back-up keen to replace alpha Bravo

As Real Sociedad confirm that goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is out for two months, his understudy is keen to make the most of the opportunity.

Bravo [pictured] injured his right arm and wrist in training yesterday morning and had to undergo surgery the same day on what turned out to be a fractured wrist.

Leaving the Gipuzkoa clinic today, the Chilean international has had it confirmed that he will be out of action for the next two months.

It leaves the door open to teammate Enaut Zubikarai to add to the 22 previous appearances he has made for the club since 2008, starting with the Basque derby this weekend.

“I have always wanted to play and I am ready to do so. I know and believe in myself,” 28-year-old Zubikarai expressed today.

“I have always felt supported even if I have not played a lot of games. This is an opportunity, unfortunately coming for the injury of Bravo.

“Being a substitute is hard and these opportunities do not come every day. I have to analyse the opponent, watch the videos… The dynamic is different. It is important to now get things right in this first game.

“There is much euphoria and excitement surrounding this game, but for us is it is just one more game. We cannot get carried away by what happens off the field.”
