Morata enjoys 8-0 Madrid romp

Alvaro Morata, one of the stars of Real Madrid’s 8-0 romp over Millonarios in the Trofeo Bernabeu, said he enjoyed the experience.

The 19-year-old stepped up from the club’s B team and responded with two first-half goals against the Colombians in a game that was a tribute to Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano, who represented both teams.

“I am very happy. It was a good match to get into a rhythm and we all enjoyed it,” he told the club’s official website.

“Besides, Don Alfredo is someone very special who always comes to see us at Castilla and gives us advice and encouragement. He is a Real Madrid legend.”

The striker also spoke of his integration into the Jose Mourinho’s first team squad.

“Every time I feel better with my teammates and they are all gradually helping me.

“If you know you are playing in the best team in the world, with the best players, then you have to give your all in every game because you never know when you will get another chance. I need to keep working towards that,”

Morata then gave his opinion on the debut of some of the club’s younger players against Millonarios.

“It was a very special day for them. Mario [Hermoso] could not even speak after the match. He is young and has a great future ahead of him.

“We must, therefore, highlight the work of the reserves and the people from the youth team,” he concluded.
