Song: Nothing to worry about

Barcelona midfielder Alex Song has described his summer move to the Catalan club as a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The versatile Cameroonian has given a full and frank interview to Mundo Deportivo, discussing the circumstances of his departure from Arsenal, being played at centre back, and the forthcoming Clasico.

“I first heard of Barca's interest in July. They spoke with Arsenal, and then [manager] Arsene Wenger came to tell me.

“It was hard to convince him, and to say goodbye, because he really helped me and my family when I first arrived at Arsenal aged 17. But a chance like this only comes once in life and you must take it.

“I play where the Coach tells me. The last game I played at centre-back for Arsenal was four or five months ago but it was not the only one.

“I don't know if I'll play in the Clasico. It is up to the Coach. Clearly with Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique we would be stronger, but I am ready and I've played in the Premier League against Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I didn't start playing today and I'm not 17 or 18. I've played over 200 games for Arsenal, I have nothing to be worried about.”

The £15m arrival is getting on well with his new colleagues, but doesn't want to be compared to ex-Blaugrana star Yaya Toure.

“I was surprised by what good guys they all are, they are lovely. This team is a family and people make you feel at home.

“I cannot compare myself to Yaya. He's a great player that I respect but I have come to be myself not the new Toure.”
