Mel: Atleti won’t have it easy

Pepe Mel has promised that Atletico Madrid will not have an easy time of it in visiting Real Betis this Wednesday.

The two sides meet in this rearranged Week 3 fixture at the Benito Villamarin. The original game was postponed due to Atleti’s involvement in the UEFA Super Cup, which Mel began his line of thought from.

“Winning the UEFA Super Cup the way they won it is beyond the reach of many, but last year both Barcelona and Real Madrid did not do well at our ground,” began the tactician today.

“Atletico will not find it easy to win at the Benito Villamarin.”

However, he was also respectful the midweek visitors, who may choose to rotate their squad around.

“I don’t know if it is good or bad if Falcao is rested, because they also have Adrian and Diego Costa and the team is very good as a whole.”

A win for Los Beticos would see them move up to second, after five games played.

“Being second in September would just be an anecdote, but it is important to get nine points from the home games.”
