Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao is a doubt for Wednesday’s rearranged game with Real Betis.

The Colombian hitman suffered a thigh injury in the 2-1 defeat of Real Valladolid at the weekend and a decision will be made on Tuesday whether he is able to play at the Benito Villamarin.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone substituted Falcao at half-time of the Valladolid game as a precaution and the player will take part in a final training session at Majadahonda today before it is known if he can travel to Sevilla.

Falcao has been in prolific form this season and is the club’s leading scorer with eight goals – a hat-trick against Athletic Bilbao, one each in games with Rayo Vallecano and Valladolid and three of Atleti’s four in the European Super Cup win over Chelsea.

The original fixture with Betis had been scheduled to take place on the Monday before Chelsea game but was postponed to allow Simeone and his players more time to prepare for the match in Monaco.
