Real Madrid have explained where the club stands in relation to Sunday’s postponed game at Rayo Vallecano via an official statement.

“After the unfortunate events on Sunday, which resulted in the postponement of the Rayo Vallecano game, Real Madrid asked the Spanish League (LFP) that the match take place in the daytime on Monday to avoid possible risks it could again be in danger.

“The LFP President has decided, however, that match will start at 7.45pm local time and has taken personal responsibility that everything will pass off normally.

“Real Madrid based its request on the absence of suitable dates in case the game could not be played today.”

Initial reports had suggested the game would begin at 8pm local time and that Deportivo de La Coruna’s game with Sevilla would start 15 minutes later than the scheduled 9.30pm local time kick-off.

However, Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido has rejected the proposal.
