Goals from Diego Godin and Radamel Falcao proved enough for Atletico Madrid to continue their unbeaten start to the season against Real Valladolid.

The home side opened the scoring through centre-back Diego Godin, who in a burst forward played a one-two with Koke before finishing calmly past Jaime.

Before the break the lead was doubled, when in a similar way to Atleti’s last home game against Rayo, Diego Costa was felled in the box and strike-partner Radamel Falcao stepped up to convert the penalty kick.

However, the second half began with Real Valladolid’s response of a goal through Alberto Bueno, who benefited from seeing ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois’ fumble his 25-yard shot through his arms.

Visiting Coach Miroslav Djukic took his protestations with the officials too far and he was dismissed to the stands midway through the second 45, but it didn’t prompt a reaction from his players, with Atleti running out 2-1 winners in the end.
