More misery for Osasuna

Osasuna’s wait for a first win this season goes on after they were beaten 3-1 by Zaragoza at La Romareda on Saturday afternoon.

Zaragoza went down to defeat at Real Sociedad last weekend, and they got off to a dream start here in their bid to bounce back from that setback when Helder Postiga gave them the lead in the fourth minute.

The Portuguese forward latched on to a Victor Rodriguez pass before slotting low past Andres Fernandez in goal.

Osasuna's start to the season has been poor, but they did at least get their first point last weekend when they drew 1-1 at home against Mallorca.

They nearly fell further behind in Aragon when Victor Rodriguez volleyed a Paco Montanes pass off the woodwork, but the visitors were then back on level terms on the half-hour mark when Emiliano Armenteros was given time by the home defence to line up his shot and fire past Roberto.

Remarkably, the Argentine has now scored in La Liga for four different clubs, having previously found the net with Sevilla, Xerez and Rayo Vallecano.

Alvaro Cejudo then somehow failed to convert a Sisi cutback and Zaragoza took full advantage as they regained the lead on the stroke of half-time when David Timor turned a cross from Victor Rodriguez into his own net.

Cejudo missed another great chance for Osasuna in the second half following an Armenteros cross and Zaragoza went on to open up a two-goal advantage in the 71st minute when Apono netted from the penalty spot after veteran Jose Maria Movilla was brought down inside the area by Frenchman Raoul Loe.

Osasuna missed several chances to reduce the deficit after that and they remain rooted to the bottom of the table while Manolo Jimenez’s Zaragoza move up into mid-table ahead of the rest of the weekend’s games.
