Levante ‘will be flying’ claims Quico

President Quico Catalan claims his Levante team ‘will be flying’ when they take on Helsingborgs in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Valencia-based club have been drawn in a group also containing FC Twente and Hannover 96, and Catalan is hoping Juan Ignacio Martinez’s men can get off to a flying start then qualify for the knockout stages.

“On Thursday the team will be flying,” said Catalan at a club publicity event. “The Coach is preparing for this match with great excitement and I have every confidence we will qualify for the last 32, although we must be realistic and know how to go about things.

“We don’t want to put pressure on ourselves but to take things slowly, step by step.”

Catalan conceded he is not worried about the other teams in Levante’s group and is more concerned with how his own club performs in its first venture into European competition.

“I don’t know who is the strongest in the group. We are newcomers to this competition and each game will be difficult. We need to compete and be at our best.”

However, he admitted that the main objective for Los Granotes still remains La Liga.

“We are aiming to make history by competing for four successive seasons in La Primera,” he explained.
