Line-ups: Ramos, Ozil dropped

Both Real Madrid and Manchester City list youngsters in their defence in some surprising line-up choices for their Champions League clash.

Welcoming the Roberto Mancini’s team to the Santiago Bernabeu, Jose Mourinho has dropped Sergio Ramos in favour of Raphael Varane and creative midfielder Mesut Ozil in favour of a formation change to 4-3-3 and Michael Essien the extra midfielder.

Otherwise, the nine other starters were the same from the weekend’s loss at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Meanwhile, English champions City can only name former Atletico Madrid man Sergio Aguero on the bench, but former Real Madrid player Javi Garcia starts in what looks like a five-man midfield.

Single striker Carlos Tevez leads the line for the visitors, supported by Spaniard David Silva. Former Barcelona man also Yaya Toure starts in midfield.

Youngster Matija Nastastic is favoured over Joleon Lescott in defence.

UEFA originally listed these line-ups, only to alter them and then change them back.
