Valencia overcome Celta Vigo

Valencia narrowly scraped past Celta Vigo 2-1 at the Mestalla this Saturday with goals from the recently returned Sofiane Feghouli and new signing Aly Cissokho.

Newly-promoted Celta battled honourably throughout, but a lapse in concentration allowed Feghouli to put one past goalkeeper Javi Varas after less than five minutes of play.

Striker Iago Aspas was lively up front for the visitors as he began to prove his worth in La Liga with several chances and fine touches.

Danish international Michael Krohn-Dehli then scored his first goal for the club to equalise 10 minutes later, signed in August following an impressive European Championships.

Cissokho’s power was too much to contain as he nabbed the winner through a set piece early in the second half, with the hosts then holding on for all three points.

Valencia now move up to second on eight points following their first win of the season, while Celta sit on three points in the bottom half of the League table.
