Carvalho still out in Madrid cold

Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho continues to be left out in the cold at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese international does not figure in boss Jose Mourinho’s plans this season and has been forced to alternate his training between the club’s B and C teams in the past few weeks.

Mourinho allowed Carvalho to return later than the rest of his teammates for the start of pre-season training so he could study a number of offers on the table.

The 34-year-old had attracted interest from Milan, Queens Park Rangers and Galatasaray along with teams from Russia and China, although none of the proposals convinced him to depart the Spanish capital.

However, Mourinho left it in no doubt Carvalho will need to find another club or continue to train apart from the first team squad.

“Ricardo does not form part of our plans as we have four central defenders, but he is a player who has a contract and we must respect that,” Mourinho said before the return leg of the recent Supercopa de Espana clash with Barcelona.

“Different teams have shown interest but it is up to him. He must decide if he wants to play football or stay at Madrid and complete his contract, thus practically bringing his career to an end.”
