Falcao hits back at father’s claims

Radamel Falcao has replied to claims by his father that ‘his dream is one day to play for Real Madrid’.

Radamel Garcia made the claims on Colombian radio programme El gran debate de Todelar, and added to it by insisting that if his son did not achieve that then he would move to the Premier League with either Chelsea or Manchester City.

However, the Atletico Madrid player, nicknamed El Tigre, moved quickly just hours later to distance himself from the remarks and pledge loyalty to his current employers.

“To make it clear to everyone, my dream is to continue winning titles with Atletico Madrid and qualifying for the World Cup with Colombia,” wrote the 26-year-old on his official Twitter account.

Falcao’s words will be music to the ears of Atletico bosses, who have seen sales of the club’s shirt go through the roof since last week’s hat-trick against Chelsea in the European Super Cup, with 60 per cent of total sales bearing his name on the back.

Falcao is currently with the Colombian national team ahead of his country’s 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay on Friday and Chile next Tuesday..
